How we choose, check and correct the numbers on this site.
Sources come first
Every figure traces to a source we name: manufacturers provide spec sheets and price pages, EIA covers outage minutes and fuel prices, BLS covers electrician wages, and published install ranges cover labor. Every page identifies where its figures come from, and our sizing guide lists each one.
Estimates in plain terms
The sizes and costs shown are estimates for planning purposes. When a number comes from our own model instead of a published figure, the page notes that next to it. This applies to prices for liquid-cooled units.
Independence
Before a page goes up, no brand, retailer or installer reviews it, and none pays for a listing. Brand names show up only to identify products.
Review
Any page that covers fuel, transfer equipment or the main panel includes safety guidance from the CDC, CPSC plus the electrical code. Once a licensed electrician reviews the site, we'll list that electrician by name here; until then we claim no reviewer.
Corrections
To report a correction, include its source and email contact@generator-for-home.com. Once we confirm an error, we fix it wherever that figure appears.
